Cars in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities mentioned they were notified by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then found many other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say initial examinations suggest the substance was likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A high-ranking official commented the attack left him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
